Reimplementation of Market risk VaR in MX.3 in addition to the FRTB extension for one of the regional banks in EU region.

There was a big need for advisory when it comes to historical data preparation for VaR scenarios and to the interpretation and understanding of FRTB regulation.

During the early phases of implementing new regulations, banks appreciate the help that combines business knowledge, regulatory understanding, and implementation advisory ensuring the completeness of the end solution.

The role required a thorough understanding of the bank activity, books organization and the specificities of their internal PL management processes.

The delivery was on time after which the client needed our lead on the validation with their internal team after delivering the required trainings.

The client had some questions around the need of creating a new XVA desk responsible of the XVA pricing quotation in addition to managing the XVA PL risk that could lead to official PL fluctuations.

A related question was about the methodology to adopt for the XVA capital calculations between the Basic approach and FRTB-CVA approach.

The two needs were very interrelated with a disclaimer that having a new desk has many considerations to reflect on.

FRTB-CVA is still not clear how much it would impact the capital calculations given there are no much data or studies on it yet.

A POC was conducted on a sample portfolio showing the benefit of FRTB-CVA vs BA-CVA which demonstrated two things: the capital reduction which could justify the need for an XVA desk and at the same time showing the scale of PL fluctuations when looking at sensitivities.

System replacement for both treasury and core banking activities in a big bang go-live approach.

This required continuous check and alignment especially when it comes to business integration between the two systems given both were new to the bank.

The treasury activity was standard, but the challenge was to understand the new core banking system capabilities ensuring that what will be delivered on Murex can be integrated from technical and business perspectives.

It was a two-variables project which required the extra mile effort to help the client in having a workable and complete solution on the day 1 after the go-live target date.

The help was highly appreciated for the advisory role deployed over the whole project lifecycle.

Large re-platforming program at a leading European bank where tens of legacy systems needed to be replaced progressively by the Murex platform in a major effort to simplify the architecture, optimize the business and reduce the costs.

The program had started running but the client find out soon that the complexity was high and therefore put in place a senior QA committee to assist the program management and design authority.

Participated in the senior QA committee as a permanent member and advised about the program management methodologies, resources and expertise management.

This mobilization resulted in rectifying the course of the ongoing phase which was very large in terms of scope. The program delivered and the re-platforming was able to achieve a big milestone of value to the business and IT.

A major European Bank Migration towards DevOps and Frequent Upgrades

This major European bank wanted to transform completely its technologies department to adopt agile ways of working following DevOps and Continuous Integration practices in order to:

Upgrade frequently their platforms to remain on the latest software product release and keep benefiting from the latest innovations.

To assist this bank in this ambitious transformation, our senior experts were involved directly with the bank teams in order to design the approach to follow progressively, to assist in the change management activities and train the teams on the new ways of working and new agile mindset, and technically implement the pre-requisites and tools suite to allow this full automation and new working methods deployment. This transformation was delivered and had a huge success and currently this Tier1 bank has attained the objectives listed above in terms of higher platforms quality and stability, frequent value increments delivered to the business and IT teams using these platforms and a much better controlled and predictable TCO.
